Why Basketball?

Basketball has quickly become one of the largest sports in North America. As one of the highest watched sports, it is still on the rise and will soon be at the top. In terms of the world, basketball sits in 3rd for popularity, with over 2 billion fans worldwide. With such high popularity not only in North America, but globally as well, we decided to jump in and weigh in our thoughts on the sport. What makes it so challenging, how you can train for it, and what makes it so fun.

It’s For Everyone

Basketball is a sport where certain players play specific roles, you don’t have to be good at everything to contribute. You can learn to master what you believe is your role on the team and still leave a positive impact on the team. This means that no matter your age, gender, stature, or physical abilities, you can still find a way to contribute.

The beauty of basketball is also that not only can everyone play, but everyone can score. It’s not like some other sports where only a few individuals score per game. Basketball is one of those sports where anyone can score at any given moment, and multiple times. This allows for everyone to feel as if they contributed to the team’s performance, and challenges them to practice so that they can continue to improve.


Whether its shooting, dribbling, or just general movement and athleticism. There is always room for improvement. The first step to training is understand what you want to improve on, and then create a plan for your workouts that focuses on these skills. For a majority of people, the most important skill for them will either be shooting or dribbling, as these are the most essential parts to the game of basketball. From there you can decide if you want to focus on other components of your game, or if you want to focus more on the strength and conditioning side of things. There are many online workouts you can find to help you prepare so don’t worry about coming up with your own. The most important thing is to stick to your plan and be patient! It won’t be easy but it will be worth it in the end.

With its fast pace style of play, it’s sure to get you sweating whether you’re indoors or out. Show those around you what that your training has paid off and be the hardest worker on the floor. The training was the hard part, and if you stayed dedicated to your craft then the game should be the easy part. You’re used to this; your hard work is paying off. Be able to do the things you see the stars do on a professional level and be able to compete with anyone willing to challenge you. There will be bumps along the way. Other parts of your game you that needs improvement, or an opponent that shows you still need some work. But that’s what makes it fun. A new challenge emerges and you’re back to your training. Back to pushing your limits and a journey towards constant improvement.


Basketball is one of the many sports you can choose to play. While we may not be able to perform it at a professional level, we can still challenge ourselves to have fun and compete. You don’t have to watch the sport to enjoy playing it. It takes hard work and dedication to become good at basketball as there are many aspects of the game that you need know. Challenge yourself to gain and learn these skills, and the fun of playing the sport will come naturally.
